|Look out, flower hat gang! Some mean, scheming wenches are after you lot!!|
There are many kinds of ways magic is woven. It pulls from the ethereal atmosphere. Only elves, elven blooded mortals, and sorcerers can cast magic(weave the ethereal surroundings and harness it). The schematics for spells vary indefinitely from user to user. The typical red flame spell from one person is cast a different way by another, but the effect-the product-is the virtually the same. Just like there are nine-plus ways to cook a duck, there are nine-plus ways to conjure flames, and just like there are not only ducks, but indeed other ornithic beasts that exist and are cooked similar ways. Just as well, there are several kinds of flames. Lighting a match is normal flame, weaving the ether around into fire, that’s magic fire. (note to be expanded on: Humans cannot harness the Ether, they use their inner will-chi)
Black Flame. Conjured mostly by acolyte desert elves, and arctic elves known as hexers. Black flame carries the burning aspect, but is notably destructive to ice and water. Black flame is used to summon atrocities and to hurt righteous individuals such as paladins or clerics of a good order.
Sacred Flame. Those who invoke the sacred flame is bound by the mutual destruction it may cause. As if signing a contract with the target, the cleric binds the sorcerer, and/or devil within the target and thus stopping all their will to move, cast spells, and to absorb ether. The cleric and the individual are sent into their soul/mind. Their they are subjected to their world and their abilities first hand and without the medium to numb the effects. The cleric typically destroys the target from the inside out this way, but without training or a disciplined sub-conscious(abilities such as ‘blacking out’, or to black out the subconscious so there are no intertwining memories or knowledge that shouldn’t be shared whilst in their soul/mind). Sacred Flame eats away at anything related to devils, demons, the black, or evil.
i. Appearances in the Soul.
Many visualizations change, however, the scape of element or setting of the battlefield doesn’t. Some clerics can hardly keep up with their forms, so they choose to use the most of their imagination and become what they can actively think up(such as male, large nose, the size of a quarterling or gnome, muscles, and even voice).
ii. Finding the Devil, or Settling for the Medium.
If it is a sorcerer's mental domain, the individual must seek out the devil, but being in the host's world means they are likely to be quickly off'd. So many clerics of the sacred flame end up just killing the individual and thus breaking consciousness and splitting the cleric from the domain.
iii. Without Righteous Law.
When Sacred Flame is cast by a non-cleric of the sacred flame, adverse reactions occur in the material plane as well as in the mind of both the caster and the target. Typically neither survive. There are multiple ways to duplicate the spell, but only one who is righteous and given the right to conquest by the Goddess of the Forest Elves Elysia or by her anointed knight Gielheim.
Next to be explored: Demon Skulls. They basically have a mind of their own!
